Default let my people go / henchmen for defense of Kryta

I think someone mentioned, that aNet did this deliberately: create quests that can't be done with henchmen.
I don't have the sources, but aNet also mentioned sometime, that no player would be forced to play missions/quests with real players.

I also have no idea, if a 105 monk can solo the titan-quest in Ascalon or Kryta.
Chances are: those are impossible to do with henchmen.

That's why I decided, a few days ago, to take 7 lvl20 hench from Droknar's to Beacons.
Since my mesmer is no runner, I had to fight my way up there.
Only to find out, that, as soon as I entered BeaconsPerch, all my lvl20 henchmen were gone.

I think, that's gotta stop.
I spent quite some time to make this journey, and I think anybody who does, should be rewarded to keep the lvl20 hench on the team.

And I also wouldn't mind if the tour to Ascalon would be packed with lvl28 grawl instead of lvl6 or lvl8.

Just make it possible to do all the titan quests with hench.

Yeah I agree, I did notice the increase of lv20 players hanging around Gates of Kryta and Lion's Arch... You should be able to do the quest with hench AND if your on the mission, then by default you should be allowed 8 in a group and all lv20. How are you suppose to survive 5 lv10 hench who can barely stay alive against lv14 mergoyals?

It is written on the box and it is inferred in the game manual that came with the game.

I agree, i tried the ascalon quest with just four players, 2 human and 2 henchies, and died everytime before getting to the King. The mob numbers need to be toned down or allow more people into the party to complete the quest.

It is just not fun and will most likely abandon those quests.

I haven't gotten that far but if I can't do those quests with henchies then I'll be peeved. I did know however that going from Droks to Beacons meant you lost the henchies after entering the Outpost. Sucks it does.

Yes, everytime you enter a post, your group will be sized down to what it was made to there. You always have the option from running from Yak's to do Ascalon's. 6 instead of 4. Just don't go in any towns.

Well, that's only half of it.
You can go with 8 (real ppl) from ToA to NorthKrytaProvice and make a stop in Bergen (only 6 allowed, I think) to get rid of the DP (if any)
The party member window will show "8/6" and nobody get's kicked.

So you can have a bigger party in-town than it would be possible to create in that town.

I would like the same thing true for henchmen.

And it's not like the Ascalon titan-quest can't be done with 4 real ppl.
I already did it with 2 char.

It's just that it can't be done with hench, and that sucks, and if that info (about not having to rely on real ppl to do quests) is on the box (never read what's on a box, most of it is just cheesy advertising), then one could think that aNet is not living up to their promise (on the box).

Whatever it is that prevents you to take 8 hench from Droknar's to Beacons: it should be changed.
Maybe downsize the team to 6. Still enough to get the titans.
Or, god willing, downsize to 4 (lvl20 that is), but don't kick'em all off the team.

Same thing happened to me in TheWilds yesterday.
After 2 or 3 failed attempts with 3 really stupid warriors who (on who else) blamed it all on the monk, I decided to do it with hench.
It took some time to get and do mission and bonus, but after, give or take, 1.5-2 hours I was done.
Well, it can be done faster, but I was also chatting a bit with some other guy.

Bottom line: when I got to BloodStoneFen, half my team was gone. Only 3 hench (or was it 2?) were left.

I'd call that "a bug in the game" and a PITA.

I don't know how big a percentage of PvE gamers I speak for, but I greatly dislike being forced to group. To the point that if this becomes widespread in future updates, I will stop playing.

As much as I hate grouping with people, the titan quests are a lot of fun to do with a group. They're meant to be a challenge for a reason, and if you could do them with henchmen then the massive EXP reward wouldn't be justified.

Racthoh: is there any other quest or mission in the game you consider a challenge & worth a massive amount of EXP?

Because I've done ALL of them with henches.

Nope, everything was pretty simple.

With the exception of the Sorrow's Furnace quests, I just wanted to get them done as soon as possible just for the sake of doing them. Afterall, the update at that time gave me 100 extra skill points so the exp didn't matter at all. But I got bored of that place pretty fast and just didn't bother finishing them all.

And I've heard Final Assault is impossible with henchmen for some reason.

The post quests, especially titan quests and the latter SF's quests are designed to be extra challenging to keep you busy after you've beaten the game. I rember the quote about for those with obsidain armor we will have challenges for you coming soon from the web site.

This includes on where to hook up (more members, farther travel) and the monsters levels. I do agree it sucks trying to find a a good pug, did many attempts to finish off Last Day Dawns quest but eventually did it with four people. Krytia next....

Where do I get these quests? I hear people forming groups for these quests, but I haven't gotten them yet. I play with henchies mostly, have gotten the hang of their quirks and have been able to complete almost any quest or mission with them. When someone says something is impossible, I just have to give it a try.

*POSSIBLE SPOILER*

You have to finish Hell's Precipe before you can do the Titan quests (5).
Glint (Droknar's Forge) is the one giving you the quests.
Only Titan quest you can do with hench is the first one. Defend Droknar.
On the rest you have to assemble a PUG.

Well, well, well....

I usually play GW, WoW, and AC:tod, split my time between the 3.

Now, I've reached the upper levels of WoW. You must group to get epic gear. No thanks. Plus WoW has gotten dull.

Asheron's Call has 600+ dungeons, and I've explored, raided many of them solo(not even close to 600 of them lol) and been able to solo them. Which is something I like. I do dungeon crawl with some buddies. When they're not on, it's good to know that I can solo effectively.

GW is fun and no monthly. Henchies are one of the best fetures of this game. Having missions undoable with henchies just really irks me. It's why I bought the game. The 3 or 4 guys that I grouped with aren't on alot anymore, and I get on at odd, low pop times. So henchies are my group.

I canceled WoW because of the having to group and it's pretty boring now.

Not canceling AC because I'm having a great time playing.

I still have lots of fun, many good times, with GW. If this henchie thing continues, guess it'll just be AC.

I'm not averse to grouping, it's just at times, there's no other option but henchies(or play another game, then forgetting GW and not buying the expansions).

Well, I've blathered long enough, long live the henchies!!

Another example of how the developers don't listen to their user community.
I didn't buy this game to be forced to gather a group everytime I want some game time.

Are you serious? You must not read the forums & patch notes often, if you are.

You're not. If you've done any quest/journey/mission with henchies, you've proven that you're not forced to grather a group to play. Try thinking before you react.

Calamity, I am serious about the developers not listening. I can't tell you how many times I've seen the developers address issues in their precious "economy model" rather than address more serious problems. How many pathing and character collision issues do we have to suffer through before AN bothers to stop mucking with endless nerfing of farm areas? Did the user community ask for all this? No, we asked for a more interesting game.

And yes, higher levels of this game force you to form parties. It wasn't like this before the barrage of updates; now I can't get anywhere without endless repetitions of "Warrior tank, LFG, blah, blah".
Saying that the game doesn't require grouping because I've "done ANY q/j/m with henchies" doesn't justify your argument.
